Hutan Rimba - Tanjung Tuan (Alor Gajah/Melaka)
Hutan Rimba Rekreasi- Tanjung Tuan
Note: One interesting thing is that the place is that even though the nearest town to this place is Port Dickson (Negeri Sembilan) but actually falls into Melaka jurisdiction instead. So, you're actually stepping a foot into Melaka when you pay a visit here.
Cape Rachado Light House
Key highlights of the trail
Cape Rachado lighthouse building and pristine forest reserve areas with lots of native wildlife (monkeys, monitor lizards, squirrels and birds) and few top notch/clean beaches with view of the straits of Malacca. There are 3 different trails you can choose from - Pulau Intan, Pulau Intan and Monkey Bay.
Entrance/trails to the lighthouse
When you arrive at the main guardhouse (outer part the forest recreation area), you will need to walk up a driveway for approximately 20minutes before you reach the stairway leading up to the lighthouse. Once here, you need to take the staircase up as the trail is actually at the left side of the lighthouse.
A hike is a hike no matter what
For this trip, out of randomness and time constraints, our group has decided to explore the Pulau Intan trail. Is a short trail less than 3km but allow us to passthrough the thick forest reserve areas and get to go downhill toward the pristine clear water of the beach (note: for those of you that visit Port Dickson regularly, you will know this clean beach is indeed a very rare find ..hahaha!)
View of a muddy trail (with water ponding's at various points of the path)
My fellow hikers buddy.
Weather was not so kind to us that morning as it was pouring rain when we get there. We decided since we're already here and don't want to turn back to our hotel, to take shelter first and wait for the rain to stop - for close to an hour before we can start our hike. We've had to mentally prepare ourselves for a very wet and slippery trail.
Start of the trail (located at the rear end of the lighthouse)
Dense forest vegetation along the trail
Downhill trail leading to the beach area.
From the start of the trail, is pretty much downhill all the way - with staircase and weather-beaten handrails to guide hikers.

Slippery part of the descending the trail toward the beach areas
It takes us about 1 plus of non-stop hike downhill before we reach the foothill and get the chance to hear the sound of sea waves...eventually the chance to seeing the beach itself.
Nice view at the rocky beach areas
Nice view at the rocky beach areas
Summary
Personally, the place exceeds my expectations, and I would definitely come back to explore the other 2 trails that we couldn't go to due time constraints. The trails are very naturals with thick forest vegetations and full of sounds of insects and wildlife. And the bonus will definitely be the chance of dipping into the pristine clean, rocky beach areas.
How to get there
As we were staying in the town of Port Dickson, the drive to Tanjung Tuan is actually very short (less than 10 minutes or 4km drive).
Parking Areas
Parking is free - park at the roadside near the housing areas. Depending on the days you visit this place, I would say there ample parking space available.
Duration of hike
It took us almost 3.5 hours from the start till finish - for 1 trail only. Hence, do pace yourself and give yourself enough time to explore the different trails and enjoy the forest and rocky beach environment along the way.
Things to bring along.
Depending on the trail you choose, do remember to wear a good pair of walking shoes and bring plenty of water. Preferably some snacks or energy bars like chocolate /etc.
Note: As I was hiking during raining season, the trails were really wet and slippery throughout the entire time. Hence, do take extra cautious and remember - safe first, always.
Happy hiking and cheers
