Image
Weekend Hiking at Tanjung Tuan (Complete trail) Key highlight of the hike : This is definitely one of the best and interesting hiking trails that I ever explore to date. You get to venture through dense tropical rainforest, coastal and rocky hills, sandy beach hike, a one-of-a-kind sea cave and finally ending the hike up the rocky Batu Putih hill. Note: This is my 2nd hike to Tanjung Tuan (as my first hike was cut short due to heavy rain) and the plan we set forth were to explore the coastal trail from Pantai Keramat, passing through Pulau Intan, venturing to the cave and walk back-up toward the lighthouse and ending the hike by climbing the Bukit Batu Putih (elevation of 233masl). Our plan hiking trails. We started at the Tanjung Tuan main entrance (just beside the hotel) and took the Pantai Keramat trail instead of following the usual hike on the tarmac road to the lighthouse. This trail is fairly easy and comprises mostly of dense forest and small incremental slope which is very ma

Hutan Rimba Rekreasi- Tanjung Tuan Tanjung Tuan Recreational Forest is a  forest reserve area  with a lighthouse at the top of the hill (Cape Rachado Lighthouse); and few interesting forest trails leading to the beaches (ie. Pulau Intan, Pulau Masjid and Monkey Bay, and to a viewpoint  at the rocky peak of Bukit Batu Putih.  Note: One interesting thing is that the place is that even though the nearest town to this place is Port Dickson (Negeri Sembilan) but actually falls into Melaka jurisdiction instead. So, you're actually stepping a foot into Melaka when you pay a visit here.    Cape Rachado Light House Key highlights of the trail Cape Rachado lighthouse building and pristine forest reserve areas with lots of native wildlife (monkeys, monitor lizards, squirrels and birds) and few top notch/clean beaches with view of the straits of Malacca. There are 3 different trails you can choose from - Pulau Intan, Pulau Intan and Monkey Bay.  Entrance/trails to the lighthouse When you arri

Sipiso Piso - Tallest Waterfall In Indonesia

Wonders of Sipiso Piso Waterfall - North Sumatra, Indonesia Recently I got  the chance to visit the stunning  Sipiso-piso   waterfall , which is located Tongging, the Batak highlands of North Sumatra with a drop of 120m (390 ft) and considered as the tallest waterfall in Indonesia .  In Batak language, Sipiso-piso means piso or knife. I was informed this due to the height and rapid waterfall  which resemble a sharp blade when viewed from a height.  Below is the magnificent view of the Sipiso Piso waterfall from the top of the rest area (we parked our car here) The hike downhill was relatively easy in the beginning as the trail is quite easy to maneuver  - cemented walkways and hand guard rail throughout. As we pass through some small huts, we get a clear view of the Sipiso waterfall and lots of great's  spots for taking pictures.    Mid-point, we did notice that the steps start to get to be a little steeper and slippery as the areas around the waterfalls is almost wet due to the ma

Sungai Tekala Waterfall (Semenyih, Selangor)

Sungai Tekala Waterfall (Hutan Rekreasi  Sungai Tekala) I must say that before I come here for the very first time, I have very low expectation on what Sungai Tekala has to offer. Well, I guess sometimes is good to be proven wrong, hahaha!  This recreational area does come with few basic facilities like gazebo, toilets, BBQ and camping areas as well as well-built walking path along the waterfall trails. And forestry area and waterfall are really well maintained, crystal clean water and plus lots of available spots for picnic/swimming. Trail distance/duration I don't know how long the entire trail was, but my hike was a very short one (less than 1km from entrance) with mostly cemented pathway except for upper part of the trail (which is mostly dirt/mud) In total, we spend about 3 hours here (short hike + swimming + picnic)   Available amenities /facilities in the park Walkway at the park trail area The trail is fairly easy to walk with lots of staircase all the way up to the variou
